What is Reiki ?

Reiki means:

Universal Energy (Rei = Universal, Ki = Energy)

 

Reiki is a complementary medicinal therapy that does not make a diagnosis, it is carried out through a technique commonly called palm healing or hands on healing as a form of alternative medicine and is sometimes classified as oriental medicine by some professional medical bodies. During a healing session the therapist or the healer`s hands will be in light contact, or not even in contact at all, on all  affected areas on the clients body, following a treatment process. The application of Reiki is carried out in various parts of the body respecting the integrity of the user. This technique revitalizes the flow of vital energy, bringing the energy balance to the body and a feeling of general well-being.

Reiki is not a religion, nor is it a faith system. All that is required of a person is the willingness to heal.

​

Reiki is also a prophylactic therapy, leading the practitioner or the user to find their vital balance, helping them to react better to conditions conducive to the disease and is also an excellent support for palliative care.

Reiki healing is done at three levels:

​

At the physical level, Reiki flows in the energy channels called meridians, nadis and chakras. The life force nourishes each cell and each organ, stimulating vital functions. When the flow of vital force is slowed down or interrupted, there is a malfunction in the chakras or meridians which leads to illness in one or more organs of the body.

At the emotional and mental level, the flow of vital energy responds to emotions and thoughts. The free flow of energy can be hindered by negative feelings and thoughts, limiting beliefs and dogmas.

At a spiritual level, the Usui System works as an integration engine from the past to the present, reconnecting the soul with its spiritual root.

What happens during a healing session ?

Each Reiki healing session can differ , and is always tailored to the needs and requests of the patient as much as possible . Typically a treatment will last 45 minutes to an hour , but initial consultation at the first session can also take 20 minutes before the healing starts .

As a patient , recieving a Reiki treatment is incredibly simple , non intrusive and can be a powerful and moving process .
Typically the patient will lie on a therapy bed and relaxes whilst the healer places thir hands in a number of posistions , acting as a channel or conduit for the Reiki energy . As an intelligent energy, only as much energy as is required is absorbed by the patients body , and it naturally travels to where it is needed - the source of the imbalance within the body .
Reiki is a complimentary therapy and thus works well in conjuction with most other forms of medication and treatment , often alleviating any unpleasent side effects from some conventional medicines , It is a completly natural and safe therapy , pure healing energy with no side effects .
